DeTitle Dining Cabin @ Lorong Selamat, Penang

There are many websites nowadays offering attractive deals. Competition is so tough that some businesses are willing to give as much as 70% discount just to attract crowd. I was attracted to this pay nothing for RM8 discount offered at an online website recently. The voucher can be claimed at DeTitle Dining Cabin and since this place is close to my work place, i decided to give it a try.
Nevertheless, I was rather disappointed as the food was not up to expectation and despite the RM8 discount, prices are actually not on the lower end.

DeTile is uniquely painted in purple so you can hardly miss the sight of this shop

with an extra RM5, you are entitled to unlimited servings of soup and dessert

jasmine tea RM6.90

spaghetti bolognaise RM19.90

oriental seafood spaghetti RM19.90

aglio olio RM16.90

cheese-baked macaroni RM18.90 (plain); RM20.90 (with ham)

spicy fried spaghetti RM19.90

some desserts

In a nut shell, this would be my first as well as last visit. For the portion that I am getting is not on par with the price I am paying. Despite so, I must commend on the polite service. Still, they lack workers and thus waiting time is exceptionally long as well.

Delicious @ Straits Quay, Penang

I recently brought my folks to try out the much talk-about restaurant names Delicious, located at Straits Quay. Delicious has a few other outlets in KL as well. They are actually famous for their desserts.

pretty nicely-set seatings

However, we went there for the main dishes and I was just trying out their service as usual before deciding if I want to visit again. Sadly to say, their service can only be summarized into 1 word i.e. "horrible". I could still remember walking into the place and having waited for 30 seconds before we decided to look on our own for a place to sit. Then, a sweet-looking waitress came to us and told us that we should have been instructed by them as to where to sit and not choose our own seats. But, hello!! We stood there for 30 seconds. 30 seconds is long enough to notice that your customers are waiting to be seated. But, they did nothing and the sweet-looking waitress even showed a sulky face when we told her that nobody attended to us, resulting in us selecting our own place to sit. She didn't even apologise on Delicious' behalf before turning around and walking away rudely.
As we sat rather near to the entrance, we could see how the other customers were turned away as well by the other waitresses. I wonder how did these people even pass their interview, earning themselves a place at such prestigious restaurant, which hosted the "afc's next celebrity chef".

I was really disappointed in the service given that day and am doubting if I should return.
However, so much said on the service, I must still commend on the food.
chicken and leek pie RM20.90 (recommended)

Santorini, Penang

A Christmas meeting with old pals brought us to this small but full of Christmas spirit cafe. Santorini located along Burmah Road, right next to Little Cottage and a few doors away from "Zhou Tian Yang'.

wall decorations include patrons' well-wishes

oat fish RM12.90

her-mus-ney chicken RM11.90

chendol jelly

coffee dance (RM5.50) and chocolate (RM5.00)

grill fish in mushroom sauce RM9.90

vegetable fried rice RM6.90

mushroom soup in thick toast RM6.00

tomyam fried rice RM5.90

If I were to choose between Western or Oriental, my vote would go to the Oriental-style. First of all, I am pretty disappointed that their Western are not authentic; i.e. no chips. Maybe I am a little conventional, I have to see chips when I order Western food. However, someone must have "complained" about this, so Santorini is pretty clever to add the statement in their menu "Western food side dishes are subject to changes from day to day". So, no more dispute! :)
Anyway, I must always commend their fried rice is indeed good! So, perhaps they should focus more on Oriental food instead.

Mizi, Tesco Tanjung Pinang

A recent birthday celebration brought us to the newly opened Mizi at Tesco Tanjung Pinang. This is the second edition to the first branch opened at New World Park. However, just like all other product prices which have increased, Mizi has also increased their set to RM25 from the previous RM21.50. Set comes with main soup, main course, drink and unlimited ice cream.
I would not suggest set to small eaters though as their main course is always very big in portion. One more thing to compliment Mizi about is their conscious about health. So, every main course comes with big chunks of broccoli, cauliflower,  carrots and potatoes.

probably this is a new place, so it's deco is nicer than that of New World Park

fish cordon bleu, RM16.50

fish filet Grenobloise, RM16 (a little to butterish and oily)

vegetable tempura, RM14.50 (has a variety of brinjal, corn, carrot, cauliflower, broccoli & potato)

Besides Western food which is their main cue, Mizi also offer a variety of Oriental food such as fried rice and fried noodles. However, as mentioned, i would definitely go for their Western food since it's their main cue.

Little Oasis @ Prangin Mall

Our initial decision was to dine at JL Gourmet since I have never been there and a colleague of mine has always been praising the food. However, my mind changed after I saw the menu they had. Somehow, i just felt that the ambiance is not up to par with the price that i would be paying.
So, we decided to enter Little Oasis, just right opposite of JL Gourmet, which is on the third floor of Prangin Mall (same wing as where the cinema is located at). To our surprise, Little Oasis actually has more patrons. Its menu consists of both Western and Chinese cuisine.
new in-store sorbet collections (we were given a free cup to try, see picture below)

lemon sorbet (super sour!!!...but it's free ;p)

 ice lemon tea

 mushroom soup (very creamy)

 ginger fish (RM5.80)

 sweet and sour chicken (5.80)

 chocolate ice cream

For an additional RM3 on any ala carte, you will be given a glass of drink, clear soup and a scoop of ice cream. You can also add RM1 to upgrade your clear soup to mushroom soup instead; which was what we have done above.
Noticed how the chicken and fish were done similarly. The only difference lies in the sauce they gave you. I would say the ginger sauce lacks ginger and the sweet and sour sauce taste a little spicey (ermmm, but it's not hot and spicy though ;p).
We also noticed a lot of patrons ordered western food instead of the ones we ordered. I guess Little Oasis were famous for a reason, but definitely not their oriental dishes.
